About UsFAQsWhen are your worship services? We offer three identical worship services each Sunday at 8:30 am, 10:00 am and 11:30 am. Pick the one that is most convenient for and your family or the one that gives you an opportunity to attend a Sunday class before or after the worship service.
How do I get to church?Cherrydale is located in North Arlington near Interstate 66 and Lee Highway. You’ll find us easy to get to from about anywhere in the Metro DC area. For specific directions, visit our map & directions page.
What should I wear?1 Samuel 16:7 reminds us that “God sees not as man sees, for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.” Wear dressy or casual clothes or anything in between. Our only caveat: whether you’re male or female, please don’t wear anything that will distract others from worship.
What is a worship service like at Cherrydale? Our worship begins with a Gathering consisting of celebrative music, greeting and announcements. From there we move into the Service of the Word, which includes a time of confession, more congregational singing, Scripture reading(s) and the message. The Response to the Word follows, which is usually a time of singing and prayer. Once a month this Response includes the sharing of the Lord’s Table. Lastly, we hear a Dismissal, the final prayer, which sends us out to be Christ’s people in His world.
On a less frequent but regular basis, we also include such things as baptisms, recognition of new members, dedications of children, missions updates and celebrations of various ministries.
Authentic, God-honoring worship has nothing to do with our stylistic preferences; it is, rather, an attitude and posture of the heart. In the course of any given month here at Cherrydale, you are likely to experience contemporary praise music, traditional hymns, video, organ, selections from the Book of Common Prayer, choir, and a worship band.
Do you offer Bible Study on Sunday Mornings? On Sunday morning we offer Sunday classes during the 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. hours. Some of the classes are using a COMPASS study tool while other classes are studying specific books of the Bible.
Where do I take my children?Children from 3 months–3 years old may be taken to our nursery on the second floor of the Education wing. Classes for children 4 years old–6th grade are on the third floor of the Education wing.
Do you have something for students?Yes! We consider it a privilege to partner with and support parents in ministering to their students. Our Student Ministries go from 7th–12th grade and meet regularly on Sundays and Wednesdays, as well as having numerous activities throughout the year. Please visit the students section for additional information.
Who are you affiliated with?Cherrydale was founded in 1913 and is an independent evangelical church in the Baptist tradition. We are associated with the National Association of Evangelicals and cooperate with other evangelical churches.
