Refugee Ministry

Over 1,000 refugees come to Arlington every year and most come from countries found in the 10/40 Window, the focus area of our missions program. Refugees often arrive in America with great excitement, but they face daily challenges as they adjust to a new culture. Settling into a different country can be a lonely experience, especially for those who miss family and friends. The following are ways that you can minister to refugees and make their transition smoother:

  • English-Language Conversation Partner
  • Tutoring children in their school assignments
  • Refugee Companion: Meet regularly to talk; extend hospitality; help navigate experiences like: Using the Metro system, opening a bank account, and filling the gas tank at a self-serve station.
