To love God and people above all else

Worship, Gathered and Apart

Whether we are gathered together on a Sunday morning, or multiplied into small clusters or individuals, we define worship as a celebration of who God is in all of His glorious attributes; and what He has done through the sufficient, saving work of His Son, our Savior, Jesus Christ. Furthermore, we believe that God-pleasing worship:

  1. Is Christ-centered, reminding us of our sin and our need for the Savior (John 5:39; Luke 24:44);
  2. Celebrates the work of all three Persons of the Trinity: Father, Son and Holy Spirit (Matthew 3:16-17; 1 Corinthians 12:4-6; 2 Corinthians 13:14);
  3. Involves both the intellect (sound beliefs) and the heart (emotions), and is not healthy or complete if either is neglected (John 4:24; Colossians 3:16-17; Ephesians 5:15-21);
  4. Is a lifestyle to be experienced both individually and in gatherings of believers (1 Corinthians 10:31; Hebrews 10:19-25);Celebrates God’s redemptive story as it is revealed in Scripture (John 1:29; 1 Corinthians 11:23-34);
  5. Illustrates both the unity and diversity of the Body of Christ (Ephesians 4:3-6);
  6. Provides a glimpse of the eternal worship of heaven (Revelation 5:9-14).

Every church is a liturgical church, since the word “liturgy” means “work of the people.” Therefore, we place a very high value on congregational participation in worship. It is our privilege and joy – and responsibility - to do our work well, to the glory of God. Our worship on Sunday should be a continuation of our worship life in Christ during the week.

We remember that we are the sons and daughters of an amazingly creative heavenly Father. Therefore, we use a variety of musical and non-musical resources as tools in our liturgy. Each of our gatherings includes a time of confession, and twice monthly we celebrate Communion.
