Cherrydale Baptist Church [+] Spreading a passion to love God and people above all else

 

I came to know Christ through my mother guiding me to listen to the children’s “Back to the Bible” radio broadcast. I accepted Christ at the age of 5.  I have attended Cherrydale Baptist Church for 56 years. I thank God for the many godly men in my life that helped me develop a long-term relationship with Christ. 

 

As an electrical engineer and a business executive for 40 years, I felt called to ministry at Cherrydale for all those years. I have led our Children’s and Adult Sunday School, High School and College programs, Missions, Boys Brigade, and participated in many other ministries throughout those years.  Marilyn, my wife of 41 years, and I have three children and 6 grandchildren.  For fun, I have taken my son Daniel on a 75 mile backpacking trip in Northern Washington State, ride Harley, and have done many construction projects. Obviously, our current focus is with our 6 grandchildren.

 

Wally oversees our Adult Ministries. He is responsible our Welcome Ministry by connecting guests, the training and assimilation of new members. Oversight of our Sunday Classes, Small Group connecting, and our Marriage and Parent Ministries. “I love seeing men take hold of the gospel in such a way that the truth of it not only captures their souls, but also has its intended transforming effects on how they lead their wives and train their children,” I also do teaching, counseling, visitation, and oversight of seniors. Asked what he is most passionate about, he singles out “the discipling of men who can serve others.”
