Ok, I promise I will give you all a break from my posts for a while now that we have reached Day 6. Lee says that once a week is best and so I will try hard to store everything up and send it to you all just once a week.
I had a few more pictures, though, and so I couldn’t resist. If you are receiving this by email and want to look at a beautiful image of what we see at night when we look out our window, please check the blog website. For some reason it doesn’t send the main image via email.
Ok, so yesterday morning we worked with the team here to cover the vineyard with netting to protect the grapes from the birds. Darrell and Maureen planted these and the grapes are incredible. They harvest them in August or September and so the kids eat tons of grapes and make grape juice, etc.
This afternoon was Vacation Bible School for the kids! This is my favorite time because I was able to get to know the children a little more. Name tags were given and I am beginning to remember who is who. It is fun to begin to see their personalities. These two sweet girls are working hard on making a stepping stone to put into the garden here.
David and Anthony have also enjoyed VBS and are developing relationships with the other boys. Yes, it mostly involves acting goofy and making each other laugh, but for now – we’ll take that:).
I did laundry for the first time this morning! Maureen kindly allowed me to use her washer and clothing line to hang our clothes to dry. I enjoyed it and the constant breeze here made the drying process much faster.
Tonight we had the privilege of watching the older children in their music class. Their teacher is very skilled and listening to them sing ‘This Little Light of Mine’ in Spanish left me smiling for the rest of the night. Music is very therapeutic and it made me curious about art classes. I inquired and while they don’t offer any art classes, a few girls are quite skilled. I’m thinking that if I can get the materials….perhaps we can have a small art class too? It has been ages since I painted, but it would be neat to share that with them and another way for them to express themselves.
It will sure feel quiet when this team leaves. They are amazing and it has been so much fun spending time with them. Beginning next week, the kids will be up here with us for lunch and dinner twice a week. Between that time we will get to do some activities with them and hopefully have some worship time together. There is an age range so I am already trying to brainstorm ideas.
Thank you all so much for your prayers, support, and encouragement! It is truly a privilege to see God at work here. And there is an incredible peace in knowing we are right where He wants us to be.
