Cherrydale Kids Prayer Team
We’ve assembled a group of eight members from Cherrydale who are committed to praying for our children on a weekly basis. They’ll pray for each child based on their age,* and over the course of a ministry year, children will be specifically prayed for at least 4 times. All requests will be kept confidential.
Each week, parents of a one age group* will receive an email asking for prayer requests. These requests will then be forwarded to the Cherrydale Kids Prayer Team, and after they’ve prayed over the children, they’ll send a post card to each child with an encouraging note.
We’ll have this up and running in the next couple of weeks! Also, each week the Children’s Ministry team meets for a time of prayer and we’d love to pray for your child of any age at any point throughout the year. Email Kelli any requests.
*We’ll start with the nursery and work our way up throughout the year. The first week, we’ll pray for the babies, 2nd week, 2 year olds … 10th week, 5th graders, 11th week, 6th graders. Once we’ve prayed through all the ages, we’ll start over again with the babies.
5th and 6th Graders at 9:15 am
John Lastova teaches the 5th and 6th graders each week at 9:15. Hannah Burkholder and Liv Williams are John’s assistants (they were trained in this same class last year). Hannah and Liv were also involved in Camp KidsPlace so many of the children will already know them. John been teaching for 20+ years and is dedicated to the class being centered on the gospel, God’s Word and prayer.
The class isn’t a lecture, but instead has lots of interaction, games, applications, and training tied to the Bible lesson. Each Sunday also starts with the class practicing effective communication skills including speaking, active listening, and follow-up questions to help us learn to be better at communicating love to others and to God. And, as an added bonus, the class usually ends each week with a game of speedball. If your child isn’t already a part of this class, we would encourage them to come check it out! Contact John if you have any questions.
Nursery at 9:15 and 11:00 am
Many of you have already signed up to help in the nursery, but we still need more volunteers. Contact Beth if you are available to help one or two Sundays per month. The schedule is also posted on Beth’s office door if you’d like to see which Sundays would work with your schedule.
3rd Floor Hall Monitor at 11:00 am
A hall monitor is needed each week for the 3rd floor to monitor the classrooms, ensure that 2 adults are in the rooms at all times, and provide other assistance as needed. If you are able to commit to serving 1 or 2 Sundays per month, email Kelli.
Family Missions Night: Oct. 11
On Oct. 11, as part of our annual Global Missions Conference, we’ll have a Family Missions Night for preschoolers–6th grade. Missionaries who are supported by Cherrydale will come and share how they spread the gospel to people in other parts of the world. Click here to sign up.
Family Fall Festival: Nov. 4
On Saturday, Nov. 4, we’ll have a Family Fall Festival with lots of fun games and activities for ages 2 – 6th grade. All are welcome to attend! This is a great opportunity to invite your friends and neighbors to Cherrydale.

Join others from Cherrydale for an informal worship night of singing, Scripture, prayer, and communion. All are welcome, no need to register!
