It all began about 38 years ago when I was “surfing” the only 3 channels available on Guatemala’s TV networks. I came across a couple singing together with exquisite harmony accompanied with their acoustical guitars.
I remember remarking to Ann: “Would it not be superb if these two would come to Christ and sing for Him?”
I never dreamed that a short time later, at a mutual friend’s home, we met Mildred and Manolo Padilla, the same people I had seen on TV. What has followed is the stuff of heavenly anecdotes.
Mildred was the first to make her decision for the Lord through Ann’s influence. A year later Manolo called me at 2:00 a.m., urgently requesting my presence. In the early hours of that night he bowed before the King of Kings.
The rest of the story is miraculous. The Padillas left a promising career in the entertainment world and dedicated their lives to sing and testify of His grace in their lives.
Since their conversion, through the Padilla’s testimony, many have been converted throughout Central America and Hispanic USA. Most of their family have become believers and their 3 daughters are in ministry.
On October 19, of this year, M&M celebrated 50 years of marriage. Manolo has survived two open heart surgeries and several bouts with cancer. Yet, this duo of voices and guitars continue to sing His praises.
As you enjoy the Thanksgiving bounty that the Lord has given, thank Him for the Thanksgiving song that still comes forth from Mildred and Manolo.
As you have supported our ministry, YOU have played a part in this on-going miracle. Thank you.
