This past Sunday, May 26, on behalf of the Elder Council, Pastor Steve announced that the vote for Lead Pastor has been changed from Sunday, July 21 to Sunday, June 23 after the 11:00 am service.

The Elders have been reevaluating the plan for the lead pastor candidating events and vote after receiving feedback from the congregation. They heard that many members would be away in July, therefore missing several events, including the vote at the July 21 Members Gathering. The Elders’ desire was to have maximum member participation at the vote and to enable people to engage with Tom as many times as possible before then.

Therefore, they decided on June 23 for the vote, giving the members the next four weeks to pray and ask questions about Tom’s approach to ministry. They decided not to reschedule the vote for later than July 21, given what our bylaws require (only two weeks’ notice from presentation of candidate to a vote) and what would be the norm for an external candidate (even shorter). (See our webpage for the schedule of events and registration options.)

If Tom is approved, he will begin as Lead Pastor on September 1, 2019 and at the same time Pastor King will begin his full-time role for three years as Senior Pastor Emeritus.

Please continue to seek the Lord in prayer throughout these coming weeks. And feel free to reach out with any questions or comments to the Elders.
