Dear Cherrydale Family,

The Missions and Outreach Pastor Search Team selected three candidates to forward to the Elder Council in May, but unfortunately one of the three candidates took another ministry position that allowed him to remain in the region in which he was currently serving, and the other two were ultimately not the best fit.

We’re grateful that the Search Team has committed to rebooting the search process and they have already reviewed a new batch of resumes.

This position has specific qualifications that requires a broader search and may take longer to fill. This role is very important to Cherrydale as this individual will lead our extensive missionary family and community outreach efforts as we seek to make the good news of Jesus Christ known around the world and in our neighborhoods.

In addition to meeting the biblical qualifications as an elder, this person should ideally have a master’s degree in a relevant field and experience in cross-cultural missions, leadership, and management. We also want potential candidates to know that we are a multi-ethnic church looking for someone who will bring a diverse perspective to this role.

As you can imagine, those specific qualifications narrow our field! But we are trusting God that He will continue to be faithful and lead us to the right candidate in the right time. Please keep this pastoral search and the search team in prayer.

Steve H. King, Elder Council Chairman
