Our goal is to bring teens’ hearts in sync with God’s heart for the world. Our missions discipleship pathway starts locally (serving others at Cherrydale, serving in local outreach ministries, and serving in regional outreach ministries) and leads to serving in cross-cultural out-of-country experiences.
With each of our trips, teens are met where they are spiritually and encouraged to deepen their commitment as a follower of Jesus.
Macas, Ecuador | Summer 2017
This cross-cultural and more advanced mission trip is designed to equip 9th–12th graders to serve in missions and to be future leaders of missions in their churches. Our youth group has partnered with Columna De Verdad Christian Church and their Christian school Emmanuel Christian since 2012. Many parents, youth leaders and teens have participated in this trip. We take a team to Macas on the odd years; our next trip is planned for summer 2017.
Parents, this discipleship experience requires significant advanced planning. Reflecting our passion and commitment to support missions, Cherrydale covers 25% of the trip expenses for all teen participants. Learn more.
U.S. Service Trip | Summer 2018
This trip is designed for rising 8th–12th graders to develop a heart for serving the needy. This trip is also highly recommended as a teen discipleship training ground for our out-of-country trip. Typical projects include serving the elderly, veterans, and disabled individuals by painting houses or building porches and wheelchair ramps. We plan these trips to take place on the even years; our next trip is planned for summer 2018.
Parents, this trip is particularly helpful because it’s designed to help believing teens get out of their comfort zones and work as a team to serve others. If your teen hesitates to participate on this trip because hard work is involved, this might be a good indication that this trip would be perfect for them! Learn more.
Since 2012, our youth group has raised money to annually sponsor a child to attend the Emmanuel Christian School (ECS) in Macas, Ecuador. We’ve seen God’s blessings through this project, including:
- Communicating to teens that service isn’t limited to a missions trip. Rather, we’re participating in a true ministry partnership with ECS.
- Deepening former Ecuador trip participants’ connection to the ECS ministry in Macas.
- Providing tangible benefits to ECS. Our child sponsorship helps the school fulfill a state requirement to provide scholarships for a number of less-fortunate children in their community. Additionally, our sponsorship helps the school keep tuition as low as possible for all students.
