Little god = BIG WORRY     BIG GOD = little worry

That is my summary of the anxiety-destroying words of Jesus in Matthew 6:25-34.

Twice Jesus reminded His listeners of “your Heavenly Father” who takes care of every bird and displays His creative beauty in the temporary lilies and grasses of the field. Two questions Jesus asked them: “Are you not worth more than they?…Will He not much more clothe you?” Jesus, God in the flesh, commands us to intentionally remember the constant care of OUR Heavenly Father because He considers us part of the “more” (worth more and clothed more).

Are you worried? Jesus indicates that the cause may be your low view of God. So, heed Jesus’ charge by feeding your faith on the constant loving care of your Heavenly Father for you.

In addition to Matt 6, some of my favorite “worry-busting” passages are: Job 40-42, Psalm 34, Proverbs 3, Isaiah 40, Daniel 3-4, Romans 8, Colossians 3, and Revelation 21-22.

During these “worry-provoking” days let’s together make them “opportunities-to-trust-the-Lord” days. This coming Sunday we are going to feed our faith from Ecclesiastes 8:1-17 and learn How to Live Wisely with Authorities and Mysteries. Elections and outcomes will give us plenty of both.

Bring a friend with you this Sunday and let’s adore our BIG GOD!
