On Sunday, June 23, 2019, Cherrydale members strongly affirmed Tom Oostdyk as our new Lead Pastor. The vote came after the Elders presented Tom as our recommended candidate for Lead Pastor on May 5 and after a search process that began early last year. The Elder Council is joyful in the unified, Christ-centered way that the Cherrydale family has walked with us during this process, and we are excited by what God is doing in our midst.

What happens next?
Tom will begin serving in his new leadership role on Sunday, September 1, 2019. Pastor Steve will preach the following Sunday, September 8, and we as a congregation will join him in formally commissioning Tom as Lead Pastor during our worship service.

Also, on September 1, Pastor Steve will transition to his new role as Senior Pastor Emeritus. We are planning a special event on Saturday, September 7 to thank Steve and Mae Belle for their 36 years of service to our church and celebrate the fruit of their ministry. (Additional details on this September 7 event will be provided as soon as they are finalized.) After that, Steve will be taking six weeks off for a well-earned sabbatical.
