Local Outreach Vision
One of the major ways we follow Jesus is by loving our neighbors (Mark 12:31) and helping people in need (James 1:27; James 2:15-17).
Much of our ministry occurs organically through our church members doing ministry where they live, work, and play. That is our church’s primary strategy for loving our neighbors and reaching our city for Christ.
But we also encourage our church members to serve in some great local ministry programs, which are listed below. We invite you to join us in loving our neighbors and serving our local community.
Local Outreach Ministry Opportunities
CENTRAL UNION MISSION
Leveraging 140 years of experience helping people in need, Central Union Mission has expanded its ministry into Northern Virginia with its Mission: NOVA Center. The center provides a range of services including Christian discipleship and the gospel, food, clothing, addiction recovery support, computer training, educational programs, health clinics, job training/placement, legal aid, ESL classes, life skills, parenting classes, and more. Bible study, prayer, and discipleship are woven into everything they do, and their goal is to offer everything in both English and Spanish.
CAMP KIDS PLACE
Camp Kids Place welcomes children from all backgrounds to experience fun, adventure, and Christian character training through a variety of activities including a gym, craft shop, waterslide, and thematic surprises. Their dedicated staff and counselors, who follow Christ, are highly trained in safety and childcare, create lasting memories, and ensure every child feels loved and cherished.
APARTMENT LIFE
Apartment Life is a faith-based ministry that partners with apartment communities to foster a sense of belonging and connection among residents. Through onsite teams known as Apartment Life Coordinators, the ministry organizes social events, offers support during life transitions, and helps create a welcoming environment. Their goal is to build community, improve resident retention, and share the love of Christ through meaningful relationships. One of our members currently serves with Apartment Life and by clicking on “Get Involved” below, you can reach out to join in her outreach ministry.
FRIDAY NIGHT CHINESE BIBLE STUDY
Curious about Christianity? We welcome Chinese international students and anyone interested in learning about Christianity, its culture, and values. We understand that exploring a new faith can feel daunting, and our friendly community provides a welcoming environment where you can ask questions and learn at your own pace.
During our weekly gatherings, we explore the Bible’s insights and its role in everyday life, encouraging open discussions and thoughtful questions. Each gathering includes shared food, engaging fellowship, and opportunities to connect in both Chinese and English. We also have a children’s group to help families learn together in a safe and enjoyable setting.

CASA CHIRILAGUA
Casa Chirilagua loves and serves a Latino neighborhood in Alexandria of approximately 100 families and their children through weekly after school programs, as well as help with homework, skills training, life coaching, leadership development, and Bible studies for children and adults.
FAITH & FITNESS
Faith & Fitness meets once a month on a Sunday afternoon starting at 3:15 pm. Warm-up begins at 3:30pm, followed by a 20-minute boot camp style workout that you can tailor for your level of fitness. All levels of fitness are welcome and invited. They end with a 7-minute faith talk and small group discussion. The meeting ends at 5:00 pm, but some people cross the street afterwards for dinner.
People of all fitness levels (CrossFit experience is not required) and all faiths (including no faith) are welcome and encouraged to join their monthly events. Ballston CrossFit (BCF) is located at 1110 N Glebe Arlington VA 22201 just 4 blocks from the Ballston Metro. There is a paid parking garage under the gym and plenty of free residential street parking within 2-3 blocks of BCF.

ORPHAN & FOSTER CARE MINISTRY
Rooted in the call of James 1:27, Cherrydale’s Orphan and Foster Care Ministry strives to reflect God’s compassion for vulnerable children. We desire to raise awareness, strengthen foster and adoptive families within our church, and connect our congregation with local service opportunities. Our vision is to empower believers to share the hope of Jesus Christ by meeting the tangible and emotional needs of these children, both locally and around the world.
FOR THE NATIONS DC

For the Nations DC teaches English to adults three days per week and offer childcare for children ages 6 months to 5 years old during English classes. They also provide education about US culture and provide connections with community resources.
ASSIST PREGNANCY CENTER
Assist Pregnancy Center is are a Christ-centered non-profit that empowers women and men to make life-affirming decisions. They offer free pregnancy testing, medical services, pregnancy counseling, and practical assistance, sharing the hope of the Gospel.
CAPITOL HILL PREGNANCY CENTER
Capitol Hill Pregnancy Center is a Christ-centered non-profit that empowers women and men to make life-affirming decisions. They offer free pregnancy testing, medical services, pregnancy counseling, and practical assistance, sharing the hope of the Gospel.
ARLINGTON BRIDGE BUILDERS
Arlington Bridge Builders is an interdenominational network of churches working with each other, individuals, non-profits, businesses, and civic agencies to seek the flourishing of our community. Their values are:
- Community Service: “Seek the shalom of the city where I have sent you”
- Uniting In Prayer: “and pray to the Lord on its behalf”
- Church Collaboration: “for in its shalom you will find your shalom” (Jeremiah 29:7)
