Raised Catholic, Joe Kilner always felt there was something he was missing. Two heart attacks and open heart surgery in his late 30s helped him realize that he was missing a personal relationship with Jesus. God brought him to understand the gospel and Jesus’ work on his behalf, and in 2001 Joe accepted Jesus as both Savior and Lord. He served a church in Annapolis for 11 years where he was a Deacon and Pastor on call, and had the privilege of helping to start several ministries.
In 2008 he married Eileen Nee, a Cherrydale member since 1990 who had been sent out by the church to work overseas in 1991 and had returned in 2003. They decided to move from Kent Island, Maryland to Arlington in 2012 to call Cherrydale their home church.
Eileen served on the Missions Committee and reaches out to refugees in the area. Joe has served as a Deacon, a greeter, and a small group leader. He teaches in the Sermon Bible Fellowship and occasionally in Cherrydale Explored (new members’ class). He holds a Master of Divinity Degree from Capital Seminary and Graduate School, and recently completed a year long Pastoral Internship at Cherrydale.
