Dear Children,

Some of you stay in our service for the sermon each week—that’s great. Some of you regularly go to Children’s Message with your parent’s permission—that’s great too. But at Cherrydale, we have a goal that all of you will be ready to be in for the whole worship service before you enter 6th grade.

Why do we have that goal?

Because we believe that all of us—young and old—benefit from the whole service, including the preaching of the Word. That’s why about four times each year (5th Sundays) we don’t host a Children’s Message.

I realize some things are harder to understand, and I understand how difficult it can be to sit relatively still for 30 minutes. But one way we grow and develop is by challenging ourselves to try hard things, read hard books, try new foods, etc. Honestly, adults wrestle with the same things.

This Sunday (April 7th) is a unique opportunity for all of you to stay in for the sermon because Paul specifically addresses his teaching (meant to be read to the body in the church service) to children. All the Bible is written for you, but in Ephesians 6, Paul pauses to address the kids even more directly.

So, though it may stretch you, dig deep and join in this week to hear Paul share a vision of what life in your family can be like.

I love serving as one of your pastors, and I am praying for you this week as you prepare to hear God speak to you through His Word in Ephesians 6:1-4.

In Christ,
Tom
