Who We Are

We're a diverse family of people united by our faith in Jesus Christ.

Our mission is to make disciples who love God and people above all else. This mission is based on Jesus’ command to love God and people (Matthew 22:37-40) and to make disciples among all people (Matthew 28:18-20).

Cherrydale was established in 1913 as a result of the prayer and planning of several families who first held services in a rented room on the “main road through Arlington” (now Langston Blvd). While we were founded as a Southern Baptist Church, we’ve been an independent evangelical church since 1932. Three traits have marked Cherrydale throughout our history:

  • Biblical Authority – Maintaining faith in the Bible as God’s Word;
  • Gospel Centrality – Centering our lives around the gospel (good news of Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection); and
  • Global Missions – Spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ to others around the world.

Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
