Sunday Discipleship Experiences
Sixth-12th graders are encouraged to attend the worship service as their main discipleship activity on Sunday mornings. Additional opportunities for teen discipleship in small groups and electives will take place in room #122 from 10:15-10:45 am.
Our first topic this fall is on personal Bible study at home.
- Students who attend will receive a personal Bible study guide. During the week, they will work on personal Bible studies.
- Then on Sunday we will divide into several groups for review, accountability, and prayer.
- The start and end time will correspond to the children’s ministry Family Sunday School in the Gym from 10:15 to 10:45 am.
- We suggest that students arrive 5 to 10 minutes early and leave 5 to 10 minutes late to allow a little extra connecting time with peers and adult mentors.
Future elective topics may include baptism, Bible study methods, how to share your faith, missions, or an introduction to theology for upperclassmen. Typical electives last anywhere from four to eight weeks.
Each elective depends on teacher availability and students willing to commit to the class and weekly assignments. For assignments, we will seek a balance between learning to practice what they are learning beyond the walls of the church and reasonable expectations depending on the age and aptitude of the student.
