Get Ready for Shoebox Season!
For 16 years, Cherrydale Baptist Church has been filling shoeboxes with gifts and prayers for children around the world through Operation Christmas Child (OCC), a ministry of Samaritan’s Purse. These gifts are provided to trained international church leaders to share the gospel, disciple children, and build the local church. Since 1993, over 186 million children in over 160 countries have learned about Jesus via shoeboxes!
There are three ways you can support Cherrydale’s 2021 Shoebox Collection:
1. Pack Your Own Shoeboxes
Cultivate your perfect gift for a boy or girl, ages 2-4, 5-9, or 10-14. Empty shoeboxes and informational brochures will be available in the GO Center starting Sunday, October 17. Return Shoeboxes to Cherrydale by Sunday, Nov. 21 at 12 pm.
Remember to include a $9 tax-deductible donation per box to cover ministry expenses. Want to know where your box is delivered? Activate a QR code box label, available with the shoeboxes, or make your $9 donation online and print out a Follow-Your-Box label to affix to your shoebox!
2. Pack a Shoebox Online
Not a shopper or hope to target hard-to-reach areas, including those otherwise closed to the Gospel? Then pack a shoebox virtually!
Visit Cherrydale’s Build A Shoebox Online page to pack a box virtually – all the fun without leaving your
home. Each gift is $25, including a tax-deductible contribution of $9 for ministry expenses.
3. Financially Support the Student Ministry Box-Packing Party
Our teens are committed to packing at least 100 high-quality, fully funded shoeboxes. We have the supplies to fill the shoeboxes but you can help get them and the gospel to children!
Make your tax-deductible contribution of any amount on our Fundraiser page to cover all ministry expenses: gospel booklets, teacher training and resources, as well as shipping and processing. Our goal is $900 for 100 quality shoeboxes. All surplus funds will finance follow-up discipleship lessons, at $6 per child.
Ready for More?
Pray all year for the boxes to arrive safely to the children, for them to understand and embrace the good news of Jesus, and for them to desire to become Christ-followers.
2. Volunteer at the Baltimore/Washington Processing Center
Help prepare shoeboxes for international shipment! The Processing Center (location TBD) will be open Nov. 23-Dec. 18, 9 am -10 pm. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org for more information. It’s a great opportunity for teens wanting service hours. Centers will observe COVID safety precautions.
