Sharing the Gospel through Shoebox Gifts
For 19 years, Cherrydale Baptist Church has been filling shoeboxes with gifts and prayers for children around the world through Operation Christmas Child (OCC), a ministry of Samaritan’s Purse. These gifts are provided to trained international church leaders to share the gospel, disciple children, and build the local church. Since 1992, over 220 million children in over 170 countries and territories have learned about Jesus through shoeboxes!
There are four ways to participate at Cherrydale this year:
1. Pack your own shoebox
Supplies and information will be available in The Commons Sunday, Oct. 27-Sunday, Nov. 24. Remember to donate $10/box to cover evangelism materials, shipping, and other project costs. The easiest way to donate is to scan the QR code on your box’s shipping label – then you’ll also find out the destination of your gift!
Shoeboxes will be collected at Cherrydale until 12:00 pm on Sunday, Nov. 24
2. Pack with us at one of our packing parties
Sign-up for the OCC Family Packing Party on Sunday, Nov. 10, 12:00-2:30 pm (sign up by Thursday, Nov. 7) or attend the Youth Ministry Packing Party on Wednesday, Nov. 13 from 6:30-8:00 pm.
3. Donate to our fundraising page for OCC
Support the Student Ministry Packing Party by donating on their Fundraiser Page. Our teens have all the supplies they need for 200 high-quality gifts. Your donation will cover evangelism and discipleship costs for each gift – $3,200 is their goal!
4. Serve at the Processing Center
Help prepare shoeboxes for international shipment at the Baltimore-area Processing Center. Anita Donatella will be leading a group on Saturday, Dec. 14, 9:00 am-1:00 pm. Space is limited. Contact Anita for more information.
